Background:

First Amendment to the SHIP New Housing Construction Agreement between Alachua County and Gainesville Housing Development and Management Corporation (GHDMC)  to develop  two (2) affordable rental housing units.  This amendment will extend the agreement through April 1, 2020 allowing the GHDMC to complete the project, which was delayed due to permitting and related factors.  The BoCC approved the original agreement on April 23, 2019 with a term end of September 30, 2019 in the amount of $100,000.00

The SFY 2017-2018 Local Housing Assistance Plan makes funding available on a competitive basis to authorize allocations to local agencies and rental housing developers.  SHIP requires that Alachua County advertise the Notice of Funding Availability in the local newspaper, the Gainesville Sun.  The Housing Program accepted applications for funding.  In total, three applications were received, evaluated, and rank using criteria outlined in the SHIP Local Housing Assistance Plan, which concur with the County Procurement Process.

GHDMC is in the end phase of completing two (2) affordable rental units for Special Needs.
