Background:

There are no other applicants for these positions. The appointments will allow the work of the Human Rights Board to continue while the remaining vacancies are advertised and filled.

The Human Rights Board makes recommendations to the Equal Opportunity Manager for the enforcement of the Alachua County Human Rights Ordinance, and renders determinations on discrimination complaints filed under the ordinance. Membership is comprised of seven members and one alternate, each serving three year terms: one member of the Citizen's Disability Advisory Committee; one attorney eligible to practice in the State of Florida; one residential rental manager; one representative of a lending institution; three citizens-at- large and one alternate. This board meets as needed.

There are currently 4 other vacant positions on the Board: residential rental manager; representative of a lending institution; citizen-at-large and a representative from the Citizens Disability Advisory Committee. The committee will be asked to nominate a representative to the Human Rights Board at its next meeting. The vacant positions have been advertised.
