Background:
The State of Florida, Division of Emergency Management has forwarded the 2020-2021 State-funded Emergency Management Preparedness and Assistance (EMPA) Agreement to Alachua County. This is a cost reimbursement agreement designed to enhance the local emergency management program. The 2020 Florida legislature approved an allocation of $105,806 to Alachua County for a twelve (12) month period beginning July 1, 2020 and ending June 30, 2021.

The Emergency Management Section has two primary annual non-County funding sources. They are the EMPA and the Federal grant program entitled the Emergency management Performance Grant (EMPG). The Emergency Management Section has been a recipient of both the State and Federal grants since the programs were created. All grant funds are used to maintain and enhance the Emergency Management program and its functions.

This is an anticipated grant award and was budgeted in the FY2019-20 adopted budget for the three (3) month period from July 1 to September 30, 2020.
