Background:

The Governor’s approval of Senate Bill (SB) 7068 created the Multi-use Corridors of Regional Economic Significance (M-CORES) Program within the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT).  The M-CORES program’s mission is to construct regional multiple modes of transportation corridors to accommodate population growth, including the Suncoast Connector, without regard for home rule, adopted local comprehensive land uses, economic impacts,  economic feasibility or mitigation of conservation lands.

The Board was a member of the I-75 Relief process that preceded M-CORES and has opposed the construction of new turnpike corridors in the region.

The attached resolution supports the reallocation of M-CORES toll roads funding to directly serve non-transportation needs and the maintenance of existing roads and bridges.
