Background:

Women Working With Women requested free use of the Fairgrounds for their Aug. 29 food distribution event.  They also requested use on Oct. 31, however, were advised that the US Army will have possession of the property at that time.  The applicant’s use of the Fairgrounds is conditioned upon the applicant furnishing the insurance required by County Policy No. 16-31 and entering into the County’s Facility Use Agreement.

Because their request has not been made at least three (3) months in advance, staff is requesting the Board consider waiving their rules on this provision.  The applicant has not violated an access agreement in the last two (2) years; and their event meets a social service public purpose consistent with a service currently offered or funded by the County (i.e. hosting food distribution events at the Alachua County Fairgrounds).  This particular event supports providing food to Alachua County families in need as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
