Background:
Recipients of State Housing Initiative Partnership (SHIP) funds are mandated by Florida Statute Section 420.9076 to establish an Affordable Housing Advisory Committee. To implement that statute, the County adopted Resolutions 08-40 and 08-67, which establish the Alachua County Affordable Housing Advisory Committee (AHAC).
The AHAC is responsible for reviewing the established policies and procedures, ordinances, land development regulations, and comprehensive plans of Alachua County and to recommend specific actions or initiatives to encourage affordable housing.
The Committee is comprised of eleven (11) members, with each member appointed to a 4 year term. The term of Anne L. Ray, who holds the seat reserved for individuals that “represent essential services personnel”, is set to expire on July 31, 2020. Anne L. Ray has submitted an application seeking reappointment to that seat. No other applications were received. There are currently two other vacancies on the committee as follows:
1. Actively engaged in the residential home building industry in connection with affordable housing.
2. Actively Engaged as a Realtor in Connection with Affordable Housing.
Anne L. Ray is currently the Manager of the Florida Housing Data Clearinghouse at University of Florida's Shimberg Center for Housing Studies. Her application is attached to this agenda item.
