Background:

In accordance with 44 CFR 201.6(b)-(d), the Local Mitigation Strategy must be formally adopted by the governing body of the jurisdiction requesting approval of the plan. The Local Mitigation Strategy is reviewed by the Florida Division of Emergency Management (FDEM) on behalf of the Federal Emergency Management Agency every 5 years. This plan has been approved by FDEM and is awaiting adoption by the Alachua County Board of County Commissioners, as well as all municipalities and jurisdictions listed in the plan.

The last Alachua County Local Mitigation Strategy was adopted by the Board of County Commission in 2015.
