Background:

During the February 23rd, 2021 BoCC meeting, a discussion was had concerning the effectiveness of current safety enhancements employed by the County at midblock crossings. Additionally, there is currently proposed legislation at the State level that would affect the enhancements the County currently employs at midblock crossings. The Board requested staff to provide cost estimates for making upgrades to all midblock crossings with pedestrian beacons, and/ or other lighted options, so the Board can consider cost implications of policy making decisions.
