Background:
The VOCA grant funds come from fees and penalties from offenders convicted of federal crimes. The VOCA grant is made available to agencies that serve crime victims around the country through an annual application, and Florida’s Office of the Attorney General (OAG) administers the VOCA grant for the State of Florida. The Alachua County Victim Services & Rape Crisis Center has received VOCA grant funding since 1986. In March 2021, the OAG added new funds to certified rape crisis and domestic violence centers’ FY21 grant awards to allow centers to add a new FTE to assist with processing relocation and victim’s compensation claims. The VOCA agreement was fully executed on March 12, 2021.
