Background:

The Alachua County SHIP Local Housing Assistance Plan is a three-year plan that delineates the expenditure of those funds to provide affordable housing opportunities for very low- and low-income households in Alachua County. The program requires that a Local Housing Assistance Plan be submitted to the Florida Housing Finance Corporation every three years. This plan complies with the SHIP rules and regulations as set forth in Florida Administrative Code Chapter 67-37 and F.S. 420.907-9079.

This is a technical amendment to the plan. “Plan amendment” means the addition or deletion of a local housing assistance strategy or local housing incentive strategy. Plan amendments must at all times maintain consistency with program requirements and must be submitted to the corporation for review pursuant to s. 420.9072(3). Technical or clarifying revisions may not be considered plan amendments but must be transmitted to the corporation for purposes of notification.

The proposed technical amendment Alachua County SHIP Local Housing Assistance Plan for SFY 2017-2020  increases the funding for strategy,   Owner Occupied Rehabilitation, from $20,000.00 to $51,000.00. and Under Exhibit C 2018-19 and 2019-20 increase the allowable purchase price from $160,000.00 to $250,000.00

The LHAP is intended to increase the availability of affordable residential units by combining local resources and cost saving measures into a local housing partnership and using public and private funds to reduce the cost of housing.
