Request Approval for the Gainesville Community Playhouse to Reallocate and Extend Previously Awarded Grant Funding

Description:
The Gainesville Community Playhouse (GCP) has concluded a COVID shortened season of four productions during 2020-2021 consisting of three plays (A Cedar Key Christmas, Eclipsed and The Odd Couple) as well as one musical (Fun Home). All of the productions played to a limited house due to Covid restrictions for the safety of patrons, cast and crew. As a result, the GCP was only able to use a small portion of the FY21 grant award. The remaining funds in this grant are more than adequate to fulfill the needs of the GCP for the 2021-2022 season (FY22), which tentatively will consist of four mainstage productions (2 musicals and 2 plays). In addition, due to the recent spike in Delta variant cases, the GCP Board of Directors has decided to defer the opening of the upcoming season until December or January.
The Gainesville Community Playhouse requests that $44,248.84 in previously awarded grant funds for be carried over for FY22.
Approval of the carryover request means that the GCP will not be submitting a grant application for the FY22 Nature and Culture Destination Enhancement program grant cycle as the carried forward funds are more than adequate to meet the programming and marketing requests, thus freeing up funding for other deserving organizations.
