Background:

The City of Newberry owns and maintains SW 15th Avenue West of State Road 45. The City of Newberry requested the transfer of unimproved Alachua County property adjacent  to SW 15th Avenue and West of State Road 45 via a letter to Board Chair Marihelen Wheeler dated November 24, 2021.

Alachua County staff determined that the County does not need the unimproved property and desires to convey the property and maintenance responsibility to the City of Newberry by County Deed.

Section 125.38 of the Florida Statutes authorizes the County to convey real property to another governmental entity without competition or advertisement.
