Background:

The Alachua County Park Rules contained in Chapter 76 of the Alachua County Code of Ordinances has not been updated in many years. The proposed revisions provide updates, reflect the County’s current organizational structure and operations, and allow alcohol consumption and possession at park and park properties if special authorization from the County, such as a license agreement, rental agreement or permit, is given. This amendment will assist the County with the intended future use of certain park properties (primarily Cuscowilla Nature & Retreat Center) for special events and gatherings. If the amendment to the Alachua County Park Rules is approved, efforts will be made to establish a special authorization application and approval process.
