Background:

The Land Conservation Board (LCB) was created by the Board of County Commissioners in 2000. The eleven-member LCB consists of 6 Natural Resource Professional members, and 5 Citizen-at-Large members (plus one alternate).  The LCB recommends properties to the Board of County Commissioners for acquisition through the Alachua County Forever Program and makes recommendations on stewardship issues on Alachua County preserves. All applicants are residents of Alachua County.

Overall, the county is transitioning to all Board, Committee, Council, Coalition and related appointed posts to be on a 9/30 end date instead of 6/30, 12/31 or any other dates. That is why most of the existing members on this Board have term dates ending 12/31, but the new appointees are 9/30. This began in the first calendar quarter of 2021 and is being transitioned as appointments are being made, not changing the date of existing appointments.
