Fiscal Consideration:

Fiscal Consideration

Loss of a day of service to the public is the soft cost of a holiday.  The direct financial cost for a County holiday is approximately $145,000. These cost are derived from additional pay for people that must work on the holiday such as Fire Rescue, Animal Resource and Care, Court Services, and Solid Waste.

For those employees in a collective bargaining unit, a paid holiday must be negotiated.
