The Sports Event Center is planned to have three public art installations: silhouette style figures on the outside, a mural on the inside, and a standalone sculpture outside, near the main entrance. This item is to select the art and artist for the Sports Event Center sculpture.

Select Artist for a Sculpture at the Sports Event Center, and authorize staff to issue a purchase order to the selected Artist to commence the work.

Background:
As part of the County’s Art in Public Places program, 1%, not to exceed $100,000, is dedicated for public art projects. The Sports Event Center is planned to have three public art installations: silhouette style figures on the outside, a mural on the inside and a standalone sculpture outside, near the main entrance.
Submittals were ranked and the top three (3) ranked artists were paid $150 each to provide a project specific sketch of their work. The proposed artwork is attached. If a selection is made by the Board, staff will issue a purchase order to the selected artist to commence the work
