Strategic Guide:

Housing

Background:

The State Housing Initiatives Partnership Program (SHIP) provides funds to local governments as an incentive to create partnerships that produce and preserve affordable home ownership and multifamily housing. The program is designed to provide very low, low and moderate-income families with assistance to purchase a home, money to repair or replace a home and many other types of housing assistance.

We are seeking to increase the Program Coordinator from 0.50 part-time to 1.0 FTE to Community Support Services to help support the Housing Program administrative duties and responsibilities for SHIP.

The program coordinator collaborates with citizens, community-based organizations, banks, mortgage and real estate industry to facilitate strategies as adopted in the Local Housing Plan: Home Ownership Rehabilitation, Down Payment Deposit and rental assistance.

The County receives an annual allocation of SHIP funds and has an administrative cap of 10%.  These funds will be budgeted to support this position.
