Background:
In 1984, the Board of County Commissioners established the Environmental Advisory Committee to assist and advise the Board of County Commissioners and the Alachua County Environmental Protection Department on environmental issues. The Committee is comprised of 11 members and one alternate serving three-year terms.
There are currently three vacancies in the Committee and three additional terms ending June 30, 2022. One applicant is a current Committee member.
Term of Appointment: Per Staff Direction in February 2021, when filling Board and Committee vacancies, if the terms of the appointment are not on the County Fiscal Year cycle, the term dates are to be changed as vacancies are filled. The terms for this Committee are all still July 1 through June 30th. The term for these 6 new appointees would become July 1, 2022 through September 30, 2025 and the rest will transition to the County’s fiscal year over the next 2 years as appointments are made. .
