Background:

The City of Alachua has had a decades old relationship with Alachua County for the provision of fire services. In the past, this service was provided by a financial agreement between both entities. In 2017, the City of Alachua agreed to participate in Alachua County’s Fire Assessment.

Staff from the City and the County regularly communicate about building projects, future needs and funding of Fire/EMS services. In January of 2019, ACFR placed a second station (Station 25) in Hague providing Advanced Life Support in the area. The City of Alachua just approved land rezoning for the relocation of Station 21, which is currently located on US Hwy 441.
