Background:

The State of Florida, Division of State Fire Marshal, is providing financial assistance to help fire departments procure equipment to mitigate exposure to hazardous, cancer-causing chemicals.  Alachua County was awarded a grant for $5,991.34 which requires a local match of $1,997.11 from the MSBU-Fire fund.  The purchase of an extractor will allow staff to more efficiently launder the firefighting gear after each fire.  The Department currently only has three (3) extractors that service the 15 stations over 960 square miles.

The resolution and budget amendment recognizes the unanticipated additional revenue and appropriates the funds for expenditure.
