Background:
Typically the Board amends the budget 3 times a year. Once in November, called “Carry-forward” to allow budget to bring forward to cover prior year encumbrances, contracts and projects not in the adopted budget. A second in January or February as better financial information from the prior year is revealed and current trends are established. And finally, in May or June when the prior year Annual Financial Reports are completed and beginning fund balance are finalized. Included with the adjustments is a donation from Duke Energy for $25,000 towards the replacement of the play area at Veterans Memorial Park. Approval of this item will also act as acceptance of the donation.
