Description:
Corizon Health, Inc. is the former Alachua County Jail medical provider. Corizon Health, Inc. has breached its contract with Alachua County for its failure to pay bills that have been due and owing since their contract ended on 1/31/2022. Corizon Health, Inc. owes Alachua County Fire Rescue $85,000, and other medical providers approximately $1,000,000. These are monies that Corizon Health, Inc. would pay to the providers and seek reimbursement from the County. The County contracts this out as we do not have the ability to process medical payments.
Pursuant to Article IV, Section 21-41(e) Duties & Responsibilities, the County Attorney requests authority to initiate action regarding Corizon Health, Inc. for breach of contract. This action would involve the pursuit of contractual remedies, including mediation. Should mediation be unsuccessful, a lawsuit would be filed on behalf of Alachua County.
