Background:

On October 18, 1988, the Board of County Commissioners adopted Resolution 88-106, which established the Alachua County Health Care Board.  The purpose of the Advisory Board is to advise the Board of County Commissioners on the health care and medical needs of the low-income residents of Alachua County.  More specifically, the Advisory Board seeks to identify gaps and disparities in health services currently available for low-income residents.  Board members provide expertise in designing programs for meeting service needs, recommending patient eligibility criteria, screening procedures, and identifying additional state and federal resources available for indigent health care.  On November 16, 2022, the Advisory Board met with a physical quorum present, and unanimously approved recommending the revised resolution to the BoCC.
