Description:
Provide annual preventative maintenance services and repairs for X-Ray machines PX64766 at the Alachua County Jail and PX641454 at the Alachua County Criminal Courthouse, as well as, annual preventative maintenance services for X-Ray machines 2216 & 2217 at the Alachua County Criminal Courthouse. This agreement uses a non-standard indemnification provision. By entering into this agreement, the County is waiving its standard indemnification policy. The language has been modified to comply with both California and Florida Statutes.

Recommend award and execution of agreement #13646 with Leidos Security Detection & Automation, Inc. and find:
1) This is a sole source provider. Parts for this equipment can only be obtained from this vendor who is the manufacturer. Leidos is the original equipment designer and manufacturer. No other X-ray or metal detector parts will fit this system.
2) The County needs these services to maintain the X-ray machines located at the Criminal Courthouse and County Jail. These machines provide inspection images that help mitigate the threat of contraband to keep these buildings and occupants safe. Currently there a machine in need of maintenance.
3) Accepting the non-standard indemnify clause is in the best interest of Alachua County and the probability of an incident occurring that will expose the County to financial liability is greater if the machines are not maintained.
