Background:

At the October 11, 2022 regular board meeting of the Alachua County Board of County Commissioners, Commissioner Prizzia requested that staff bring a presentation to provide an understanding of the phone contracts at the Jail with the goal of making the calls free. She further stated that she would like to learn how to reduce other inmate cost but does not want to delay the phone call matter.

County Manager Lieberman stated that staff is already working on the matter and it will be brought back to the Board.

Commissioner Cornell wanted to ensure that the Sheriff is involved in this process and that County staff is working with the Sheriff’s Office staff.
