Amendment to the County Code related to the Construction Nosie Waiver process could potentially increase workload for the review within existing departments but can be accommodated by the current staff of those departments. Additionally, it may potentially lead to a reduced enforcement activity for the Sheriff and County Code Administration due to the waiver.

Background:
Staff have received numerous inquiries from the construction field about the timeframes related to construction noise and the industry’s ability to effectively build seasonally due to concrete foundation curing and other construction tasks. Additionally, there have been code enforcement investigations for construction happening that violate the County’s noise ordinance. The proposed Construction Noise Waiver process would provide a process for licensed contractors to request an exception and for neighbors to be notified in order to help reduce these conflicts. Many other jurisdictions including the City of Gainesville have similar waiver processes.
