Background:

Section 386.209, Florida Statutes, known as the “Florida Clean Air Act,” authorizes counties and municipalities to further restrict smoking within the boundaries of

any public beaches and public parks that they own, except that they may not

further restrict the smoking of unfiltered cigars. If these changes are approved by the Commission, signage will be installed in all parks.

A copy of this draft ordinance has been shared with the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office and Office of Code Administration.  If this agenda item is approved, a public hearing to amend the Alachua County Code, Title 7, Chapter 76 will be advertised.
