Background:

Alachua County and the City of Newberry entered into an interlocal agreement on October 1, 2019, for Fire Suppression and First Response EMS/Rescue Services. The agreement also includes an Employee Exchange program where the County provides a Firefighter Paramedic who works on the City engine and the City provides a Firefighter EMT who works on the County rescue unit. Both the City and County agreed to amend the agreement to remove the Employee Exchange program on B and C shifts. The program will continue on A shift until on or before September 30, 2024. The ownership of the medical equipment and supplies currently in use on the City engine valued at $31,706.55 will be transferred to the City. The City will be responsible for maintaining and replacing the items.
