Background:

The Town of Lacrosse and Alachua County entered into a Fire Service Agreement that began on October 1, 2019, and automatically renews each year. As part of the agreement, both parties financially compensate each other based upon responding across each other’s jurisdictional boundaries. The established compensation rate per response shall be increased annually based upon the previous calendar years Consumers Price Index (CPI) from the bureau of Labor Statistics-South Region. CPI will be determined during the annual budget process.

In calendar year 2021, the net calculation was 449 responses into the County at a rate of $662.04 for a total sum of $297,255.96 to the Town.

In calendar year 2022, the net calculation is 443 responses into the County at a rate of $708.38 (7.0% CPI increase) for a total sum of $313,812.34 or an increase to the town of $16,556.38.
