Background:

Lake Alto Preserve is an approximately 1,300 acre Alachua County Preserve protecting the wetlands associated with Lake Alto and the Santa Fe Swamp.  The preserve has been acquired in several tracts, beginning in 2005, and continuing with land purchases in 2008, 2020, 2021, 2022.  An additional approximately 320 acre property is currently under contract for purchase by Alachua County and Alachua Conservation Trust from the estate of Dr. Kahn Dinh.

With the expansion of Lake Alto Preserve in recent years, including the anticipated acquisition of the Dinh property, opportunities exist for resource-based recreational planning partnerships between the City of Waldo and Alachua County with respect to this preserve.
