Background:

The Lunz Group Agreement #11814 is for the design of Alachua County Fire Station(s). The designs include a prototype station at 10404 SW 24th Avenue, Gainesville, and three potential subsequent stations at/or near 12825 NW US Highway 441, Alachua, FL, at/or near I-75 at NW US Highway 441, Alachua, FL and at/or near Hawthorne Rd (SR 20) at CR 234, Rochelle Community, Unincorporated Alachua County.  The agreement establishes a framework on the cost for the reuse/update of the prototype design for subsequent stations.  The final cost for the reuse/update will be negotiated through amendments to the agreement.

The fire station located at 2000 SW 43rd Street (Station 80) is located inside the city limits of Gainesville. This resource will be relocated to 10404 SW 24th Avenue to property already owned by the County. The existing station will remain Alachua County property and will be utilized to house current and future rescue unit resources. County staff is also in discussion with staff from the City of Alachua for the future relocation of the station located at 15040 NW US 441 (Station 21). The new location would be along Hwy 441 and Interstate I-75. The Lunz Group will be utilized to design the prototype station which will be used as the basis for all future subsequent stations.
