Background:

On December 13, 2022, the Board of County Commissioners adopted Resolution 22-146 for the Health Care Advisory Board which, among other things, established new membership categories and extended the sunset date.  Three of the appointees are nominated by their agency for representation (Department of Health in Alachua County, WellFlorida, and Gainesville Fire Rescue). Three appointees represent a type of agency and require a letter of recommendation. Five appointees must meet certain criteria such as a doctor or nurse, and there are two appointments for alternates.  As some of these membership categories overlap, applicants may qualify for more than one type of appointment.  For example, a doctor or nurse might also qualify as a representative of a non-profit health care agency.

Currently, 10 individuals are serving on the Advisory Board until new members are appointed.  Once appointed, these new members will assume the roles of the existing members as their terms have expired.
