Background:
This application is the second request for approval of a special exception to allow a private motorized vehicle practice facility. If approved, the site would allow a non-commercial practice facility for all-terrain vehicles [and their variants as defined in the Unified Land Development Code (ULDC)]. In October 2018, the BoCC approved a Code amendment allowing these types of facilities to be considered by the BoCC through the special exception process. In 2020 the Alachua County Code Enforcement office received a complaint related to this facility, which was determined to be in violation of the Code as it had been constructed without any approvals. The owner submitted a special exception application, ZOX-02-20 to address the violation. The previous application was denied by the BoCC on October 27, 2020. The applicant has not been using the site for a motocross practice since that time, however the fill for the motorcycle land zones and stormwater basins remains on the property without approvals. The applicant was sent a second Notice of Violation on 05/10/2021 and has submitted this application as a result.
This item was heard by the Alachua County Planning Commission on 2/16/2022.
