This is a reimbursement-based grant from the State of Florida, $200,000. $15,550 was spent in FY21.
Expenses over the $200,000 award will be paid by Parks using Wild Spaces Public Places funding, 021.41.4100.572.46.00. A budget amendment reallocating $9,000 has been included, though the additional costs should be less than that amount.

Background:
On December 8, 2020, the State of Florida and the County entered into Grant Agreement Number F0081 for Project Number DEM-SR00032 for Hurricane Hardening of the Freedom Center at Veterans Memorial Park. The Grant Agreement expires on June 30, 2023, so all work must be completed prior to June 30, 2023, or the County may lose grant funding unless the State extends the term of the Grant Agreement a third time. The County solicited bids to perform the work. J.E. Decker Construction Group, LLC was the only bidder. The proposed contract requires the Contractor to achieve Substantial Completion of the work by April 30, 2023, and Final Completion of the work by May 30, 2023. The Contract Price is $186,211.00. Section 255.05, Florida Statues allows the Board, at its discretion, to waive the requirement that the Contractor furnish a payment and performance bond when the amount of the contract is for $200,000 or less. Staff is requesting that the Board waive the bond requirement for this contract.
