Description:

Ranking and authorize negotiation of a contract for RFP 22-307 Architectural & Engineering Services for the Budget Inn Conversion.

 

Recommended Action:

Recommended Action

Approve the ranking of RFP 22-307 Architectural & Engineering Services for the Budget Inn Conversion as follows:

 

1.                     Brame Heck Architects, Inc.

2.                     Walker Architects, Inc.

 

Approve the above ranking and authorize staff to negotiate a contract for RFP 22-307 Architectural & Engineering Services for the Budget Inn Conversion with the top ranked firm (subject to grant approval). Should the staff be unable to negotiate a satisfactory contract with the top ranked firm, negotiations with that firm will be terminated.

Background:

The Community Support Services Department, Housing Division submitted a grant request to the Department of Economic Opportunity (DEO) for approximate four million dollars to assist in the conversion of the Budget Inn located 4401 SE 13th Street, Gainesville, Florida.  As part of the conversion process, an Architect/Engineer is required to develop project plans and construction oversite.  The grant project, subject to funding, will have a short window to complete (estimated a year) and therefore, the County is attempting to complete as much as able on the front end to meet design and construction deadlines.

RFP 22-307 Architectural & Engineering Services for the Budget Inn Conversion advertised on October 20, 2021 and October 27, 2021.  The deadline for receipt of RFP 22-307 Architectural & Engineering Services for the Budget Inn Conversion was December 1, 2021; two (2) vendors responded.
