These Amendments meet the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) reimbursement eligibility guidelines.  In the event of a disaster, additional funds would most likely need to be identified.  There is currently $1.38 million in reserves in the MSBU Fund which is for curbside pick-up in the mandatory collection area for the unincorporated portions of the county.

Background:

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Florida Division of Emergency Management require that the County have preexisting contracts for disaster recovery activities. Counties without such contracts may be ineligible for FEMA and/or state reimbursement for disaster recovery costs, in the event of a declared emergency.

On October 4, 2016, the BoCC approved the original Agreements for Disaster Debris Removal, Reduction and Disposal Services with CrowderGulf Joint Venture, Inc. and AshBritt, Inc. Both Agreements expire on September 30, 2022. The Amendments have a six (6) year term, beginning October 1, 2022 and continuing until September 30, 2028. At the conclusion of the First Amendments, the County will have the option to renew each Agreement for one (1) additional six (6) year period.
