This is revenue for Alachua County Animal Resource (ACAR), which will be deposited into the General Fund. No startup costs are required. The vendor is paid per license issued via service fee.  The vendor will send us a reconciliation and check/ACH each month, and we will receive the net amount. ($25 - $4.30 = $20.70 to ACAR).  Donations will also be accepted by the vendor then passed back in whole amounts to ACAR.

Equitable and Resilient Community

Background:

Animal licensing helps our community by ensuring pets are vaccinated against the fatal rabies virus.  Licensing also provides a revenue stream for Animal Resources to use for innovative programs and operations.  A new component of this service will be a heavy focus on returning lost animals home instead of entering the shelter system.  By using Smart Tags, finders of lost pets will be able to use their phones to snap a photo of a QR code which then provides pet owner information so finders can reunite pets directly.  Finders without that capability will be able to call Animal Resources or the 800 # on the tag to obtain that same information.

RFP 24-91 Animal Licensing Services was released on March 1, 2023.  The deadline for receipt of RFP 24-91 Animal Licensing Services was March 29, 2023; two (2) vendors responded.
