Background:

Effective the first full pay period after ratification by the Union of this Agreement following the February 13, 2023, negotiations, all bargaining unit members, except those bargaining unit members in the firefighter classification, and those bargaining unit members who were in the firefighter classification on October 1, 2022, shall receive a flat dollar amount increase in their individual salaries (the “March 2023 Increase”), as reflected in ADDENDUM II.  The March 2023 Increase will not be added to the base salary of the affected classifications, but instead provided to the individual bargaining unit members in accordance with their classification.

The bargaining unit members in the firefighter classification shall not receive a March 2023 Increase, to account for the FFBA Pay provided to those members in the firefighter classification beginning in October 2022, in order to allow members in the other classification to receive similar increases as the firefighter classification already received.

Those bargaining unit members who were in the firefighter classification as of October 1, 2022, but promoted prior to March 13, 2023, shall receive an increase to their individual salaries as reflected in ADDENDUM II, but with an offset for FFBA Pay.

Also, documentation shall be required as a condition for approval of Bereavement Leave.  In addition, at the Fire Chief’s (or their designee’s) discretion for operational needs, the County may use on duty crews to staff Special Events expected to last six or less hours.  The Fire Chief may develop an operational policy to implement this.
