Background:

The Department of Fire Rescue submitted a grant request to the Northeast Florida Regional Council (NEFRC) to fund a pediatric simulation manikin. The grant request was successful and funded at $33,879.00. The purchase is for a pediatric high-fidelity simulation manikin with the ultrasound module and accessory to be used for local and regional training.  Paramedics and Emergency Medical Technicians will have access to perform high-quality patient care training currently not available. A high-fidelity manikin will allow for full ACLS treatment along with endotracheal intubation, intraosseous device insertion, and a realistic training aide to use with ventilators. Other EMS agencies in the region will be invited to quarterly EMS training use with the manikin.

The total cost for the pediatric training manikin with the ultrasound module and accessory is $75,657.09. The grant award is for $33,879.00. The remaining $41,778.09 will come from the FY23 PEMT funds allocated for equipment.
