Background:

The Department of Public Works and Public Health Department have joined together to contract with Clarke Environmental Mosquito Management Inc. for the surveillance, monitoring and eradication of disease-bearing mosquitoes in the unincorporated areas of Alachua County. The County entered into an Agreement with Clarke Environmental Mosquito Management, Inc. on March 09, 2006, through an Agreement between Marion County and Clarke Environmental Mosquito Management, Inc. a First Amendment to the Agreement was then executed on March 25, 2008, a Second Amendment to the

Agreement on May 25, 2010, a Third Amendment to the Agreement on May 08, 2012, a Fourth Amendment to the Agreement was executed on September 24, 2013. Marion County has since entered into a new contract with Clarke Environmental Mosquito Management, Inc. after a competitive bid process. The current contract with Marion County, bid/RFP 13P-192, permits cooperative purchasing with other governmental agencies with the State of Florida, under the same terms and conditions. Clarke Environmental Mosquito Management, Inc. had agreed to extend the Agreement to Alachua County. That Agreement expired in November 2020 and funds were used

from the FY2021 budget to finish the Mosquito season.

In May 2021, the County decided to bid out these services, Bid#21-97 was advertised with two responses being received. Clarke Environmental Mosquito Management, Inc. was selected based on pricing, availability, and responsiveness. Clarke has been working effectively and our recommendation is to continue with their service for FY2023.
