Background:
In February of 2020, Chief Harold Theus met with Archer City Manager Tony Hammond to discuss a future Interlocal Agreement between the two entities for the Archer owned city fire station. A letter from the County Manager's Office was sent on February 13th which reflected the proposal made by Chief Theus. On March 9th, the letter and discussion were brought before the City Commission. The Archer City Commission then directed Attorney Scott Walker to begin negotiations with Chief Theus. On May 7th, Chief Theus delivered a presentation to Mr. Walker and to date the County has not received a counter offer from the City of Archer.

The 2007 Interlocal Agreement included an annual payment from the County to the City in the amount of $34,254.48. The County agreed to make this payment in order to pay-off the City's building debt. In exchange the City would participate in the MSTU funding methodology. The final payment for the building debt will occur this year.

The County has contributed $445,308.24 towards the City's debt since the origination of the agreement and now wishes to enter into a new Interlocal Agreement.
