Discuss current status of negotiating an interlocal agreement intended to offset the impact of re-allocation of Local Option Gas Tax Revenues and advise staff of available funding source to utilize for any financial impact.

Any agreement to provide services or materials would have an impact on the County’s budget, primarily within the Gas Tax fund, but potentially in other funds, as well. No budget exists for this purpose and the Board will need to determine an available funding source.

Background:
The Board and the City of Hawthorne have previously discussed the possibility of offsetting some of the Local Option Gas Tax Revenue that the City of Hawthorne lost when the splits were revised at the last update. Discussions have centered around items such as the County providing in-kind services or materials at cost. At its May 4, 2021 meeting, the City of Hawthorne Commission agreed in principal to the idea of an interlocal, but raised some questions. Alachua County Staff will begin working on this interlocal with Board of County Commissioner direction and determination of available funding source.
