Background:

Following each Census, and as may be needed in between, the County Commission may update its districts such that they have equal population. As Census 2020 was completed last year, the Commission should review its existing districts and redraw them as may be needed to ensure an equal population between them.

Staff have prepared a draft district map that provides for new Commission districts varying by less than 1% from the nominal average per district. The districts will be adopted by Ordinance and included in the County Code, advertised in the Gainesville Sun and transmitted to the Department of State, as required by Statute.
