Background:

The Land Conservation Board was created by the Board of County Commissioners in 2000. The eleven citizen (plus one alternate) Land Conservation Board recommends environmentally significant properties to the Board of County Commissioners for inclusion on the Alachua County Forever Acquisition List and makes recommendations on stewardship issues.

Overall, the county is transitioning to all Board, Committee, Council, Coalition and related appointed posts to be on a 9/30 term end date, instead 12/31 or any other dates. That is why most of the existing members on this Board have term dates ending 12/31, but the new appointees are to terms ending on 9/30. This began in the first calendar quarter of 2021 and is being transitioned as appointments are being made, not changing the date of existing appointments.
