The FY20 Adopted budget included a budget enhancement to upgrade the current residential broadband services in addition to the budget for the services previously purchased. The new contract will have a monthly charge of $8,840, totaling $106,080 per year. This is budgeted as a split between 011.54.5450.526.41.00 and 011.54.5480.522.41.00. Background:
The Department of Fire Rescue uses residential broadband from various vendors for fire station network connections. These connections do not have the bandwidth capacity or reliability to meet the network needs. Dedicated business point to pint network connections are needed to support the growing needs of Fire Rescue including video conferencing, station Wi-Fi, EMS & Fire reporting, and training. Dedicated business network connections to the Alachua County Domain are needed and supported by the County Department of Information Services.
The annual recurring cost for sixteen (16) fire rescue locations is $106,080.00. The recurring cost that will be eliminated by the upgrade is $33,480.00. The agreement is for 5 years (60 months).
