Background:
The Alachua County Agriculture and Equestrian Center located at 23100 W. Newberry Road, Newberry, Alachua County, Florida ("Center") is a full-service event site available for use for agriculture and equestrian events and activities and other festivals, shows, meetings, and more. The County's contractor, Southeast Horse Shows, LLC, assists in booking and scheduling events at the Center. The Board of County Commissioners ("Board") previously declared a list of activities to be pre-approved Agriculture and Equestrian activities that do not require further Board approval prior to the Licensee entering into a License Agreement with the County for use of the Center.
It has been requested that the list of pre-approved activities be amended by the Board, as presented. The proposed changes are highlighted and/or strikethrough on the attachment to this agenda item. The list of pre-approved activities for the Center has been provided and presented to the Animal Resources & Care Department, the Animal Welfare Advisory Committee, and the Director University of Florida Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (UF/IFAS) Alachua County Extension. Feedback from all parties has been incorporated into the revised rules as presented.
