Description:

County Road 25-A, also known as Tuscawilla Road, traverses from the termination of Cholokka Boulevard to US 441.  There is a request by citizens of Micanopy to designate the road as a County Scenic Road.

Direct staff to advertise a public hearing to consider designating Tuscawilla Road as a County Scenic Road Corridor.

Background:

On December 2nd, the County Commission received a request from a resident of Micanopy to consider designating Tuscawilla Road as a Scenic Road Corridor. At the December 8, 2020 meeting, the Commission gave staff direction to prepare a report on the potential of designation of the road. ULDC ARTICLE IX. - SCENIC ROAD CORRIDORS OVERLAY provides a process and criteria for designating a road in Alachua County as a County Scenic Road.  Staff has prepared a report with information on Tuscawilla Road and whether the criteria are met, along with a brief presentation.  If the County Commission wishes to consider the designation ULDC Article 4, Chapter 402 requires a public hearing.
