Description:
Approval of the plan to use American Rescue Funds in the amount of $500,000.00 to support the operating expenses for the Certified Community Health Worker Project and efforts to improve healthcare communication for two years, at $250,000.00 annually.

Approve the plan for the implementation of the Certified Community Health Worker project including appropriating $500,000.00 of American Rescue Plan funds and approve the attached budget amendment.

Background:
As presented by the Healthcare Advisory Board, the cost to create the Community Health Worker training, certification, and employment pipeline was estimated at $346,500 to $530,000 annually. In drafting the ARPA plan, project staff adjusted the budget to reflect the annual appropriation of $250,000 in ARPA funding. This required reductions to the number of Community Health Workers completing certification as well as a replacement alternative to the original improving healthcare communications proposal put forth by the University of Florida's Center for Public Interest Communications. As many recent healthcare communications needs assessments have been completed, staff recommend the limited funds be used primarily for the development of newer innovative written and visual communication too...
