Background:

On December 10, 2019 County staff gave a presentation to the County Commission regarding a request from Gainesville Neighbors United to discuss affordable housing issues. At that meeting the Commission directed staff to create an affordable housing resource tool for the public.  Growth Management and Community Support Services staff have worked with input from Gainesville Neighbors United to create an online mapping resource for the public that includes locations of publicly assisted housing units, multi-family residential complexes, public schools and school zones, RTS routes, medical facilities, grocery stores, and a mechanism for landlords to provide a location and contact information for available rental units.  The website also contains contact information for various housing assistance partners such as the Housing Authorities, Habitat for Humanity and the United Way.
