Background:

The Joint Water Policy Committee began meeting in April of 2015. The Committee has historically included two County Commissioners, two City of Gainesville Commissioners, and one elected official from the remaining municipalities within Alachua County. The meetings are designed to discuss water and climate issues within the region.

During the 7/14/2020 Alachua County Commission meeting the original interlocal was signed by Alachua County, but then a motion was passed to increase the representation during the August 24, 2020 Joint Water and Climate Policy Board meeting. Since this change would require modifying the interlocal agreement, the original agreement was not executed and signed by the City of Gainesville.

This interlocal agreement will formalize this Board and will increase the number of Commissioners from two to three representatives from both the City of Gainesville and Alachua County Commission.
